Driving
Most people choose to drive here as it gives the greatest freedom for exploring
during your stay. From Inverness follow signs from the A9 for Ullapool. 10 miles
north of Ullapool take the Achilitbuie turning on your left. Acheninver is about
2 miles on from the Summer Isles Hotel. Exact directions will be supplied when
booking. The map below shows our position and if you select the driving tab you
can get detailed instructions from Inverness bridge to our front door (you can
enter your starting postcode to get exact instructions from elsewhere to us).
Car Hire
There are a number of car hire companies in Inverness that can supply cars for
your visit, for collection in town or at the airport:

Bus
There is a link between Achiltibuie and Ullapool that runs twice-daily.
In term-time it's is a school bus with an early morning run and a second in late
afternoon, normally connecting with coach services to and from Inverness.
Outside term-time there is still the early morning service with the late service
replaced by one at midday.Buss links between Ullapool and Inverness are
mainly based around the
Stornoway Ferry timetable so should be checked according to seasonal
variation (please check on the links below). The bus from Ullapool to Achiltibuie takes approx. 30 minutes.
There is also a "Cycle Bus" that runs to Durness and passes the turnoff to
Achiltibuie - this still leaves 15 miles of single track road!

Plane
Inverness Airport is well serviced for links throughout the UK and more European
links are opening all the time. London flights can be caught from Heathrow,
Gatwick, Luton and Stansted. Hire cars can be collected from the airport, or
there are regular bus links to Inverness itself. The drive from the airport
to Achiltibuie is between 2 and 2.5 hours (see above). Please check on the

Train
Rail links to Inverness are regular throughout the day and from most parts of
the UK. This includes a sleeper service from London.
